A creative ecosystem rooted in rivers, mountains, and sagebrush — blending art, education, and storytelling.

About Highwater Sage Studio

Our mission is to create and share place-based art and educational resources that connect creativity, land, and learning across Northern California, Southern Oregon, and Northern Nevada.

Highwater Sage Studio is a multi-artist art and education studio rooted in the landscapes of the Western United States. The studio brings together creative work across photography, illustration, mixed media, jewelry, woodworking, and educational resource design.

Our work focuses on developing thoughtful artwork and learning materials inspired by regional land, water, and ecosystems. Projects range from individual creative practice to collaborative efforts that support personal reflection, classroom learning, and community engagement.

Highwater Sage Studio operates as a flexible, project-based collective, working with artists, educators, and creative contributors. This structure allows the studio to support diverse voices, disciplines, and ways of making while maintaining clarity and care in how work is shared.

The studio produces original artwork, digital downloads, and educational materials designed for personal use, classrooms, and community learning spaces. All offerings are created with intention, respect for place, and transparency of use.

Our Regions & Mountain Ranges

Northern California — Klamath Basin & the Sierra Cascade Range

Northern California holds our river heartlands — the Klamath River, basalt canyons, oak woodlands, and the volcanic spine of the Sierra Cascade Range. This region shapes our river-focused collections, watershed studies, and wildland-inspired artwork, grounding our work in flowing water, resilience, and connection to place.

Southern Oregon — Wildflower Ridges & the Southern Cascades

Southern Oregon is defined by lupine-covered ridges, evergreen forests, volcanic peaks, and high-elevation landscapes. The Southern Cascades influence our botanical illustrations, color palettes, and ecology-based educational designs, all rooted in the rich seasonal rhythms of this vibrant corner of the West.

Northern Nevada — Great Basin & the Sierra Nevadas

In Northern Nevada, wide high-desert basins meet the dramatic eastern face of the Sierra Nevadas, where sagebrush plains rise sharply into ancient granite peaks. This region inspires our desert palettes, sagebrush linework, cultural storytelling, and lessons centered on dryland ecology, adaptation, and resilience.

Why These Places Matter

Together, the Sierra Cascade Range, the Cascades, and the Sierra Nevadas form the living backbone of the regions we call home. These mountains, rivers, and wildlands shape our art, inform our educational work, and ground our community connections — defining the creative heart of Highwater Sage Studio.
